Ah, yes X. Where would i be without you ? Possibly a successful businessman or scientist by now, considering the amount of time i have spend in this game. <.< Seriously, this game is DANGEROUS. It's addicting and it's not shy about consuming your time in big chunks. However, i have to admit that you will somehow be rewarded for all you sacrifice. I have yet to see a game like this, that just simulates a universe with hundrets of systems you can visit, all in realtime. No, i mean it. Other games that try the same will not even bother to simulate systems that you are not currently active in. X does. All the time. This makes it one of the biggest resource and especially processor hogs i have seen.
The grafics are amazing. Not that my computer would be fast enough to really show me something cool, but i don't mind anymore, i got addicted to the game, not the grafics. But if you have a powerful machine, the eye candy is a bonus, of course. Even though i don't actively play X3 at the moment, i would not want to miss it. I might also add that X3 is often described as a "Sandbox Game", which is true, though not the way you might think. You are not god in this game, actually you are more like a little punk that found a spacecraft and thinks it's so cool to fly around and annoy people. Indeed in the beginning even a spacetaxi can kill you and later in the game the same guys won't be able to drop the shields of your freshly bought battlecruiser by even 1%, no atter how hard they try. And thats just what i love about the game, you can own everything you see, every ship, every station. There are only very few exceptions, and i do not mourn them one bit.
To finsh this, here are a few screenshots. Oh and ... get the game ! www.egosoft.com
