Camoflage

Ok, so something i learned while working on a project for a military style website is how to make camoflage. I'll just teach you the basics, i'm sure you'll understand how easy it is quite soon.

Lets start out with a 1000x1000 picture and fill it with the cloud filter (Make sure you have black&white and colors). Use the filter a few times until you get a result you like. I guess you can already see where this is going, but not so fast ! Now go to Selct/Color Range. From the dropdown selct shadows first. Press ok and go to the channels tab (Look at your layer window). Click on Save selection as Channel () Then select the new channel. The magic of PS has now created a black and white image of your selected. CNTR-D the selction and use the gaussian blur at maybe 4,1. Then go to image/adjust/levels.

Move the sliders like i did on the right and press ok. Now look what happened: PS made it all smooth for us ! How nice of PS, seriously. CNTR-Select the channel to load the slection and go back to you layers, make a new layer and fill it with a color of you choice. Obviously you can do this trick with any color from the color range and thats the whole magic folks ! Honestly ... just make sure to use very lowly saturated colors, greens, browns, greys for your camo and you'll do fine.
